My Winter Skincare Tips

As summer comes to an end it’s always a great idea to tweak our skincare regime to cope with the many external factors affecting our skin health.

As we move into winter our skin is exposed to continuous variations in temperature, going from hot to cold environments disrupts the skin’s natural barrier, central heating, and recycled air contain more toxins and less moisture so it is much for drying to the skin. It is vital to hydrate your skin with a good moisturiser that suits your skin type and hydrating from within by drinking plenty of water. Pollution also affects the natural balance of our skin, so a good skincare routine is vital.

Nighttime is when our skin goes into repair and restore mode, so getting into a good nighttime skincare regime will really benefit your skin during the winter months. Retinols are great for regenerating skin cells, start slowly with this as it can be drying to the skin, but once a routine is established you will definitely notice the benefits!

Dial down exfoliation, reduce to 2-3 times a week maximum as over exfoliation during the colder months can cause dry and flaky skin, so don’t overdo it.

Hyaluronic acid keeps skin hydrated by retaining water in the skin and promoting tissue regeneration, so include this in your daily routine.

These are easy steps you can introduce to your home skin care to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy through the colder months, but we all need a little help and a treat, don’t we? So how can I help you?

We can sometimes lack vitamins such as vitamin D and B12 during winter when the days are shorter and darker.

Thanks to its contribution to skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism, vitamin D has been shown to play an important role in keeping skin clear and healthy. When we lack vitamin D our skin is more likely to misbehave and have acne or eczema flare-ups.

A course of B12 injections can help increase collagen maintenance, improve cell turnover, reduce inflammation and redness, dryness and even help ease acne.

Beyond improving skin hydration and elasticity, biotin offers a range of other benefits for skin health and appearance. Some of the top benefits of biotin for skin care include:

  • Reduced acne and inflammation
  • Improved overall skin texture and tone
  • Increased collagen production, which can reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced hyperpigmentation and age spots
  • Improved wound healing and scar reduction.

LED light therapy can be an effective treatment for dry skin. Red LED light therapy can stimulate collagen production and improve skin hydration, while blue LED light therapy can help combat skin infections that can exacerbate dryness. Light therapy is a fantastic add-on after any professional skin care treatment, I offer this for free with any full-price treatment so just ask!!

Probably one of the most popular treatments I offer, Skin Boosters are a fantastic way to hydrate and heal the skin from within, the results speak for themselves. Saturating the cells with hyaluronic acid gives the skin an intense boost of hydration, essentially moisturising from the inside out! Restoring luminosity and firmness to the skin whilst also helping to rebuild collagen. To combat the drying effect of the winter season on our skin, I would highly recommend skin boosters, two treatments two weeks apart will see your skin through to spring.

I offer a range of different skin boosters varying in strength and to fit all budgets.

Any of my friends and regular clients reading this will know how much I love microneedling, the treatment that I cannot recommend enough!

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that encourages collagen production using tiny, sterilized needles. It may help smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, and wrinkles. Paired with a hyaluronic acid serum targeted to your specific skin concerns.

Microneedling is the perfect treatment to pair with skin boosters to maintain that glowing dewy skin throughout the winter months!

During the summer months, our skin’s exposure to the sun is increased, this can sometimes result in pigmentation or sunspots. Microneedling and laser treatments are fantastic ways to treat these. High-factor sunscreen should be incorporated into your morning skincare routine, even during the colder seasons.

I offer free skin consultations where together we can determine the best treatments for you, these along with all of the treatments I have recommended can be booked through my booking link or message me to book.
